  • Anybody hooked up a Toyota/Lexus 1UZ V8

I have seen where the import guys are sticking older Toyota V8s in stuff much like hot rodders stick LS motors in stuff. I seems like cheap LS motors are a thing of the past....the Toyota V8s are still cheap.

Any know what it takes to do the swap?

There are two things in life where penetration is really important.....and one of them is welding.

Not to sound too tongue in cheek - but liken any motor swap - a welder, scrap metal and some thinking. I would suspect like the LS conversions, you need a wiring harness and ECM. I dont know how well the aftermarket is for the foreign stuff, but LS has tons of support - which can be the key to success or another Craigslist project for sale ad.

Yeah, LT1SWAP.com turned off the anti-theft on my 5.3 for around $75.

I had heard that Toyota ECMs couldn't be done as easily. I am wondering how people are making the Toyota/Lexus V8s run. A little V8 that would rev could be fun in a hot rod.
