  • 472 Cadillac Cam?

I'm just curious, but is there a cam for a Cadillac 472ci that can idle at around 550-600rpms? I haven't gotten really into camshafts and don't know much about the lift or what not yet, but I just got a 33 Chevy Rat Rod with a 472 and I want to try and get that low idle, heavy cam sound. For sound reference, I kinda want the cammed sound from the Sailor Jerry Rat Rod from Roadkill. Thanks!

you can check out http://www.500cid.com/camshafts They have a nice description as to what each cam will do performance wise, what other parts are needed, what compliments each cam, etc. Otherwise I believe Comp Cams makes a Thumpr Cam for these. Anything with a tight lobe separation angle of 110 or less (thumpr is 106 i think) will make the sound you are looking for.

Here is my 472 in my 1940 Pontiac. It uses the #10 th cam. Stock heads reworked with proper valve springs, Bulldog Tarantula intake, Holley 750 carb, stock exhaust manifolds to straight pipe. Lopes in neutral at 650 rpm in this video, but normally at 850.
