Who has used Bear Claw latches and what's the scoop? Are they the best thing since the pocket on a shirt or are they over rated???

The Bear Claw name is a trademark that is registered to the Hoffman Automotive group that has a reputation of producing low quality off shore parts. Several outlets sell the same stuff.
There are a few places that do sell made in the USA latches (Ohio I think) that are better quality, but may be listed as "like Bear Claw latches" or along similar names to the Bear Claw. This is one of the places the "name rip off" place is actually a better product. I thought I had a web address in my book marks, but must have deleted it after I installed the Dakota latches in my truck. A guy over on that ham site sells them, it would turn up under a search there.
The biggest deal for me was that style latch does not have a door lock feature. You either need locking door handles, or you have to add the electric door poppers. Gene

I used door latches that came out of a JCB zoom boom for my build... they were free from where I used to work, parts overstock.
but they're exactly like the bear claw ones.. having the 2 separate pawls and a 2 stage latch.
they're very common on heavy equipment.My build thread:
