  • Farm machinery thread [for fun]

I'm going to attempt posting a video or two for your viewing enjoyment!
The same nearby auction I picked up the beautiful original international S180 I also got a Massey Harris super 92 combine.
I'm not a combine collector by any means but according to family legend my grandfather was the proudest man in the neighborhood when he came home with a brand new super 92 back in the day. So this one has sentimental value and is in very good condition for its age.

Sat outside for what must have been 20 years under a tarp. Porcupines moved in **** everywhere, but didnt do much damage.
The entire fuel system had what I can only explain as tar..... a good layer in the bottom of tank, full sediment bowl, and bottom half of carb bowl. A can of acetone [only thing other than carb cleaner that cut that tar] and a few cans of carb cleaner later, got everything cleared out.
Carb had one leakey float which I was able to successfully resolder.
The engine was not seized, pulled all the plugs and put a cap of ATF in each of the Chrysler inline 6 cyl flathead' holes to help get the old girl lumbered up.
Got it running, fixed a tire, changed engine oil, greased and checked trans fluid, topped up hyd oil, drove it home in road gear.... [5 or 6 mph]
    8 miles or so.
It was just a beautiful day, sun shining, it felt like I was in a time machine, remembering how grandpa must have felt the first time he drove his pride and joy super 92, so many years ago...

Picked up a couple pieces of farm equipment that my grandpa used on the dairy from my dad's house today. I'm taking them up to the town I live in for a antique power equipment show this weekend

mobile picture uploads should work the same way that uploading on a computer works. are you having troubles uploading on your phone, because that was one of the issues we made sure that was resolved in the new update

                    Thanks for posting the pics!
.. a GP? Is that the model?
it looks unlike what I'm familiar with in that vintage john Deere family. Is that a rare model?

It's an 4 year tractor I believe. My dads uncle just bought a twin to that one a few days ago.

Yes gp is the model. It looks a lot like a d but the front axle is different

Here's yet another project I've gotten myself into
4430 johndeere. Will be a chore tractor primarily for PTO work and raking hay on the farm.

so, as a personal experiment... I'm going to try to fix this engine on the cheap... like weld up and skim coat JB weld over the hole in the block. 1 new [or good used] rod, maybe a engine bearing kit.. de burr and Emery cloth the crank a bit.

if theres any interest in this I can start a new thread.
