  • 48 Chevy 3100

Found a 48 5 window truck on Facebook for $900 for my wife. She wanted it lifted up so I did some trading for a 99 Durango 4wd with a 360. Wheelbase is the same but I'm going to have to push the engine back a bit.Click image for larger version

Bed and body mounts all set up, just need to finish the running board brackets. I need to wait to do the front mounts on the cross member until I have the engine in.

had to move the engine back 13 1/2" to make room for a radiator. when moving the engine back the torsion bar bracket was in the way so I relocated it into the inside of the frame. I cut the crossmember and inserted it into the frame

looking good so far! definitely a cool build. there was a thread a few months ago on here i was looking through of an IH on a newer square body durango chassis. he ended up keeping the durango firewall and floor, and stitching it to the IH cab. in your case though, having to move the engine and torsion bars back so far, i don't know how that would work. probably have to remove alot of the rear floor when doing it. but then again you may have already gotten rid of the durango body. good work though! it is coming along!

yea the Durango body is long gone. I plan on having the interior all original but nice and clean so you don't get dirty when you drive it. I don't get a whole lot of time to work on it between working 50 hours a week, flipping cars and family but its coming along slowly

That's a cool project. Look's like the body fits pretty good on that chassis.
