  • 1927 Model T Tudor Sedan Build (Project Leroy)

    Well, haven't posted much here in while been on a 65 c-10 kick for a few years. I picked up a body for a 27 Tudor last Thanksgiving from a guy and dragged it home. Where it has been for about 9 months. The last few months I have been tinkering on the weekends and its finally to the point it can roll. I'll give a quick recap.

    This is what it looked like when I got it. I don't know if someone was planning rust repair or what, but it was pretty badly cut up. Also for such a drastic chop, there was no way the frame was going to work.
    So it was time to set to work. I had some old artillery trailer where that I used to move it around and decide what the game plan was.

    Started by chopping up and reassembling the rear window. I didn't want it to be a tiny slit of a window so recessed it into the back a little. then started on the side chop and relief cuts that were made by the previous owner. I know my welding is no the greatest and I have become very friendly with a flap disc.

    This is where it sat for a while, during this time, I got married and built this wagon for my nephew.

    Finally, it was time to actually get to work.

    picked up the steel to build the frame and designed the frame on the computer.

    I knew I wanted a pretty serious z to keep the car as low as possible and at the same time not have to channel the hell out of the body.

    After getting the frame squared up I dropped the body on to make sure everything would fit. It did. Now on to the front suspension. Just a simple spring perch, the wishobones actually attach in the middle of the front z, they are drilled oversized and the holes then have a .120 steel liner welded in.

    With the front suspension in place i made some simple motor mounts and mounted the 283 and th350.

    The rear suspension is a parallel 4 link with bags.

      So pretty much a year to the day i was able to roll it out of the garage and take a few pics. Next is a basic floor structure and body mounts, then i will break it all apart and weld in reinforcing plates on the frame z's as well as extra cross members and finish weld all of the frame.

            Totally get what you're saying edisonfire. I'm very happy to have found this site. Seems the best fit for what I like and some cool people building some mighty cool rides. Continue to have fun!

              Thanks for coming bsck!
              good to see the build and that its moving forward again..
              It seems quite a common theme that some builds take many years to complete... mine being a prime example... I've been on mine pushing a decade now... but this might be the winter it gets Inspected/insured/registered and *legally driven...
