As promised the big update is here!

I bought a truck for it's frame and decided to use te whole drivetrain as well. It's a 1987 Mazda B2000. Has the 2.0 with a 5 speed.

The body was fairly straight but the bed was rusted out something fierce. So I cut the bed up for scrap and used 2 pieces of it for something I seen and wanted to build.

Then after scrapping the rest of the body I set my cab onto the frame for the first time.

The fit is really close, after I cut the heater channels out and rebuild the door sills with my 1 1/2 square tube, cut the old frame mounts off, I should be able to section it over the frame nicely.

Thoughts?

Was able to keep the body flat with the frame

The old bed frame came in handy

those Mazdas are great little trucks. My brother had two of them. One had a 4/6 drop that he drove daily with out any problems. to get that low he had to notch the frame over the rear end. your truck looks cool so far. Have you decided on an engine choice yet? I think that theres a weber carb set up out there for the Mazda engine that would definitely clean up the engine.

Weber carb with a organ pipe on top, custom exhaust header that will dump, and also have a tailpipe piece that drops out, Plan on doing a rebuild eventually and doing a red block with a polished valve cover that will have red in the high spots. Will hide all the computer crap and wiring with a 2" pipe that goes into the cab behind the engine and up to the engine.

I'm going to attempt to make it a "Hot rod 4 cylinder" that looks like a traditional engine.

hey, I have my junk sitting on a B2000 as well. There are easy ways to drop the front end. Flip the ball joints to the top of the control arm and you can re-index the torsion bars as well. I had a plan for using the engine but I let it sit too long with a blown headgasket and it locked up the motor.

Yeah I got a TON of experience with the Mazda platform. I've owned a bagged B2600i cab plus, bagged and body dropped B2200 single cab, bagged a buddies B2000... I love these platforms. I plan on stripping the Mazda junk out up front and running a straight axle.

Out back I'll be z-ing it and shortening it as well. As far as the engine, it's just a timing belt ($16) and it'll be running.
