Here's a couple pics I took 20+ years ago of a 54 ford with a blown BB Chevy in the rear. It used a boat V drive to transmit power back to a 9" rearend. As you can see, it made some passes down the quarter mile , so it wasn't just for looks.....

Thats a caddy and heck yeah, bet its a mover.. Was thinking of a 3.8 bonniville setup, the supercharged one would be better but moneys tight and dunno if my buddy will let me pluck the 6cyl yet. Sold my cummins diesel to pay bills and for a few things like iron for the rat build.

The problems I ran into so far were planning the frame/suspension/axles and getting an E-brake for it. It was 1000x easier to use the suspension from the donor car for what its worth.

I have been throwing around the idea in my head... and I would make sure I got the whole front cradle from a fwd car.. most of the newer cars are self contained. Then weld up some upper mounts for the struts and hard link the steering or figure out 4whl steering...
Basically, I would start with an entire doner car, not just an engine and trans.

Well I found a pic... Seems it would be so easy to do and cheap since alot of the reg engines are so high sometimes. I thought a supercharged 3.8 from a bonneville would be killer..lol
But Im not sure how to keep the alignment in check. I would have a box around it if I did one though. And with some sort of hood you can pull off some great legroom and have a huge gas tank...
