Default 2017 Blue Ridge road trip from Colorado - It's back on ! ! !

This years trip is back to east coast. Going to leave Colorado late May , take I-76 to I-80 and get to Omaha, Nb. First night spend it at Walmarts parking lot. Second night hope to get to Chicago area and find a camp ground. Next day on to East Liverpool, Ohio. Hang out till June 4 then start the road trip. Down to Gettysburg, then down to Skyline drive, then Blue Ridge Parkway, then on the Columbia, SC. Spend a couple of days there, then down to Savannah, Ga. then up the east coast! There is no agenda on this trip. You all are welcome to run with us for any or all the trip. We will probably camp 2-3 days then a night in a motel. Each morning over coffee we will decide where we go that day. So plan to come and get your camping gear together. Should be back in Colorado around the 1st of July.

Default 2017 Blue Ridge road trip from Colorado - It's back on ! ! !

Got some things done on the 39. Pulled the intake and replaced the lifters, the other ones where locked up - No hydraulic! Cut the header collector off the exhaust pipes and replaced them with the correct 3" collector and welded them into place. Got it started and the lifters are quiet! And no hissing from the collectors now!
This week I am going to fix the hood and repaint it! Then all I have to do is charge the A/C.

Default Road trip down the Blue Ridge parkway is Tuesday, MAY 30, 2017 !

Well everything is about ready to go. My brother Rob is going in the 39 Olds truck with me. Doing some last minute gathering for the trip. Everything on the truck is ready, but the AC is still not working right, OH WELL! We will take about 3 days to get to eastern Ohio, spend 2-3 days there then we head out on the road trip over to the east coast and explore! Butch will be in his 36 International Rat, my cousin Bob will be in his 30 model A or his V8 Trike and for part of the trip a couple of other friends in their hot rods will be with us. Should be fun, we plan on camping out, 2-3 days then a motel for a night to get cleaned up. Other than that, we plan the day over coffee each morning!

Default 2017 East Coast Road Trip

Well I'm back from the east coast, all toll 4832 miles! Had to cut the trip short, family crisis. Took 3 days to get to East Liverpool, Ohio. Took Rt 30 from Joliet, Ill. That was much better than interstate! Did some repairs at my brother's garage, saw some old friends, and went to a cruise in Salem, Ohio. Next stop was memorial of flight 93 6424 Lincoln Hwy, Stoystown, PA 15563, those passenger where REAL hero's! Then on to Gettysburg, Pa. Camp out at Caledonia State Park near Gettysburg, stayed 2 days and it rained! Packed up everything and went to Antietam National Battlefield, 23,000 men died in 4 hours at that battle! Next stop was Harpers Ferry National Historical Park, a lot of civil war things there. Decided to go visit brother Rob son in D.C. He lives in Arlington so we used Uber to travel around D.C. Went to the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, that place is BIG! Took a whole day to go thru it. Next day we went to the Memorials that took a whole day too! Next morning we said our goodbyes and headed for the Skyline Drive, picked up some food for camping. Next day we started the Blue Ridge Parkway. Stopped and got some food for camping. Next day we traveled to my Uncle Toms place in Chapin, S.C. Spent couple days visiting then headed to Charleston, S.C. Spent 2 days there, did a bus tour of the town. Then a boat trip out to Fort Sumter. I was stationed here in 1968, BOY HAS IT CHANGED! Then a family crisis so we said our goodbyes and I headed toward Colorado and Butch headed back to Ohio. Trip was cut short but we all had fun! The trip back was ugly, 94 Deg and 80% humidity! And no air conditioning! All toll 4832 mile, a dozen vapor locks, new fuel pump, 2 new steering bolts (Grade 8) retuned for low altitude, used a lot of oil because there is no baffle around the PCV valve. Can fix that!
Tried to load pictures but Killbillet has changed something and now it won't resize them and load them!
