I would center the engine/trans combo the best you can. Most Ford rear ends are offset. A lot of people have the long side shortened to the same length as the short, then use a short side axle on both sides. This both centers it and narrows it if needed. I left mine stock width but the tunnel inside isn't as symmetrical as I would have liked.

thanks Sproket that's what I was originally thinking. I'm just having some clearance issues but I think it might be resolved with a different oil pan. then I can move the engine forward. hopefully 3rd times the charm for oil pans they aren't cheap!

Center the engine, X2 on the offset punkin'. Make sure to even up the backing plates to the frame. I kinda think the bit of offset makes u-joints run longer life.

so don't shorten the dif to center the pumpkin?

Most all diffs are offset. It will be fine

As said above, you should be fine. Offsets do prolong ujoints life but the miles most rods get it shouldn't be a concern. If it needs to be narrowed a couple inches it is an option to then center it for a tighter driveshaft tunnel and equal sized floor on each side.

    Nice build HoS!
Are you keeping the original paint job?
When do you plan to finish the build?
