    well .... it's a Winnebago drive train ... 454 cammed up .... TH400 .. dana 70 rear.. chopped up the chassis to build this chassis ... deuce 1/2 cab chopped cropped ... sliced and diced ... custom made bed .... home built straight axle ... ford spindles .... 4 wheel manual disk brakes ... rear air bags .... ford explorer torsion bar front.





    Before worn metal effect paint air bags deflated...

    Most parts hand made .... I have a cutting torch ... stick welder ... gas mig .... side grinder .. cheap drill press .... antique metal lathe .... 1200 man hours ....

    Took me a week to build the straight axle .... made from 30 pieces of metal ... mostly 1/4 by 2 flat bar.

    You were doing all right until I got to the "home made axle" with 30 pieces of steel, mostly 1/4" x 2". Hope it holds up for you. Gene

    Yea .. I hear ya ..... good thing is if it breaks I can fix it and it's not a high speed racer anyways.

    And ... it's strong as an oxe !!!

    While i am not saying you axle will break and it is probably highly unlikely that it will NOT do so ,

    I guess you are assuming if it breaks it will do so while parked .

    Flatbar is mild steal and I beam axle is made out of forge steel. Axles are designed to twist and flex.
