Here is the quick change I plan to install in my 22 Dodge roadster.
It is a stock Ford banjo, turned 180 degrees and modified.
I believe this was done in the late 50's, early 60's, and was
supposed to hold up better than the aluminum versions of the time
in various circle track racing where there was a lot of wall / car contact.
The second picture with the shafts is another variation of the same type.

While I have assembled most of the parts, I haven't found much information.
Does anyone have any helpful hints or information on setting up a quick change
style rear end, as it is the one part of the car I am least familiar with.
Or can you point me in the right direction in the quest for knowledge.
Thanks for the help.

Some of the early units were Frankland Welding, which was later Frankland Racing, Ruskin, Fla. There was a "Franklin" that did some conversions as well, but I don't remember the location. The unit you have there is very similar in design that the 6 spline V8 units were taken from. Halibrand and CAE used this design for years, and were the more popular units, being the almag and magnesium castings instead of the cast steel.

Bearings, lower shaft, gears are still be available and should work with what you have.

Thanks for the information, Pinstriper. I have found some info online,
but not quite enough to do the job yet.
