Here are a few shots of my project car, 37? Plymouth. Lot?s of ?should I?z right now. Should I ?Z? the frame, should I channel the body, Should I go with a single leaf spring front suspension or, go with the dual parallel spring set-up it has now. Will I be able to find spindles (disc brake compatible) that will fit my axle? Or, should I just RUN LIKE H*LL!!! I?m open for any help & suggestions.....mike

You can allways go with what you have and go gasser real easy
Or go with a Camro front end that will give you disk brakes and power steering

That was what I was thinking about, I can always go with a Hi-Boy Rod. I have not pulled the body yet to see what I've got (hope the frame is in good shape) I think is is. I will pull the axles, springs and, go from there. There are so many roads I can take with this, I'll just have to make up my mind what I want and go with it. The main thing is, I like old skool and, you like every one else one this site like old school....THATS HOW WE ROLL!!! Take care my Bro's.....mike

Looks like a gasser to me too. :D :D The parallel springs are already there, just need a straight axle and some ladder bars in the rear. (after you put on new springs, of course) Some big and little tires, and you are there.

Look like a gasser to me to. All you needs a donor car. Maybe an 60's Fury
383,440 and a 4 speed or 727. Will be a bad ride no matter which way ya go. Keep use posted.

Hi.
First post.
I have a '37 Dodge. Same frame and similar body and whatnot.
You need to beef up the rear suspension before you put a lot of power back there. It was made for a straight six so anything with an eight will hurt it. Fun stuff though.
The guy who owned my project before me had already installed a mustang 2 suspension and I've wished I had that original back under the car. The Plymouth/Dodge front clip from the '30's is unique when compared to other cars of taht era.
Good luck. These are fun cars and only one in 500 or so of what you'll see at a show.

I hate to go against the gasser tradition here but that bad boy would look intense channeled and down low. You don't see hardly any cars of this this body style done thata way. Maybe there's a reason why but I sure don't know what it is? Aside from my lowly opinion on style your car is awesome man. Do what makes YOU happy!

I?m with you on that. I have a good idea on how to get it down on the ground with some ?easy?? Frame modifications. It will take a little work getting the body channeled because of the trunk area. Just got a new MIG welder ?this will be a good way to try it out?. Hope to post some pic?s soon....mike

Lowering the front will be easy. The axle is under the spring?s stock. You can move on top of the springs for a quick simple lowering job. Have you located any disc brake rotors that will work on your spindles? I may need a set also.

I like Thunder1 think you should go for the low down look with no fenders. I hav a 37 ford sedan I`m building that way.The only thing I need to check out is how the DMV feels about fenders.I have a few friends that have older 30`s vintage cars with no fenders but i dont know if they have a cut off year of vehicles that need fenders. Any one know what the rules in NY State are?:D

Work on the 37? Plymouth is underway. I am going with a mono spring front end and 6? drop axle. With the factory bow in the frame (it was a parallel dual spring) it will put this puppy on the ground. The floor pans are cut out and she will be channeled around 6? to 8?. I have been putting some reinforcement on the frame and cross member to compensate for the extra stress from the use of mono spring and 12?- 14? of extra wheel base I will gain with this set-up. You can see the car as I got it under this title 1st. post.

I Would Have To Say Go Gasser With That Front End
I Have 39 Plmouth That Has Been In The Family For 25years...the Front End Is So Ugly And Long I Have Never Been Able To Figure Out What Do With It...i Wish It Had That Straight Axle.....
But Anyway I Have Never Been Able To Find One Of These Cars Done In Rat Or Gasser Style Or Even Rodded. So If Anyone Comes Across Something Or Pics Please Send Me Something!!!!!!!!!!! I Would Rather Finish This Project Rather Than Starting Another

I like the trad street rat style, but it's your ride. Had a friend who put a 331Hemi in a '37 coupe like yours. Kept the suspension stock in front except for re-arched springs to drop it some. This was pre-gassers, like in '55 or so. You should really go Hemi regardless.

I found 39 Plymouth this past fall, can't wait to get it home and under way.
I like the whole front presentation of the beast. It reminds me an old locamotive charging down the lines...........really cool looking rides.
Those are real interesting settings, sortof like a mixed highboy and yet, almost sitting on the ground. Actually, all you really need to do is tighten up the suspension, brakes conversion, and the third member.......nice sleeper cruizers. Good luck with your 39....:D
