Thought some of you might like to see this. We are building a table to work on hydraulic cylinders and the nuts that hold the pistons on are super high torque (2000-3000 ft pounds) We found a torque multiplier on Ebay that gets us up to 14,000 ft. pounds, but the problem was that it was 2 1/2" drive. We have some 1 1/2" drive sockets, but we needed an adapter. In comes Snap On. They listed a 2 1/2" to 1 1/2" adapter in their book, but had zero in stock. We placed an order and they put one into production for us. Check out the size of this thing. On the left is a 1/2" X 3/8", then 1/2" X 3/4", then 3/4" X 1", then the beast 1 1/2" X 2 1/2". Thing weighs 34 pounds!!

Is that adapter (female to male) not going the wrong direction? You said the multiplier was a 2-1/2" drive, isn't that gonna be backwards, or does the multiplier have a male drive? Just curious? and yes that thing is frickin HUGE!

^ Yep the multiplier has a 2 1/2" out (male) which will go into the adapter and then use our 1 1/2" sockets on the adapter. The multiplier itself is just turned with a 1/2" drive ratchet.

Actually it wasn't that bad. Our old dealer had quoted us $750.00 so we were just going to have one machined. Then we got a new dealer and mentioned it in passing. His quote was only $350.00 so we jumped on it.
