I'm a happy man...sort of!!

Well I spent most of the day workin on my shoebox tryin to get everything hooked up enough to fire the motor. Got radiator in and hoses on, wires hooked up enough to start it anyway. Filled the motor, trans and radiator and checked for leaks.

AAarrrrrgggg....trans leaks and haven't even cranked it yet. One looks like pan gasket, othere may be shifter shaft..oh well.

So I start crankin on it to check the timing and that looks good so I primed the carb and she fired up!! Yaahhooooo!!

I let her run at fast idle for several minutes and she sounds good, no funny noises...I' a happy man...I needed a little morale boost since it seems like its been forever makin any progress on this baby!!!

Morale booster #117. Your exactly 87.5% dont. Just a little to go. Pan gaskets are easy, messy, but easy. It sure looks good, and the smell. I can smell it from here, all the oil burning off, garage filling up with carbon monoxide. Congradulations.:D

It's all downhill from here, Bud. :) :) Once you get the motor fired and take care of any little "oops" that you find, it gives you the incentive to do the rest of the stuff.

I'm trying to get my Son to fire his Olds engine up, because I know once he hears that puppy shaking stuff off the walls he will have the urge to finish the rest of it.

PS: While you are dropping the pan, get one of the pans that have the drain plug in them. Much easier to change fluid without 2 gallons of fluid sitting in the pan, and they are pretty cheap too.
