I'm almost ready to take possession, I?m working out the details on getting her home. She?s a 1936 Olds coupe complete with bucket over the carb to keep the rain out. Someone Hot Rodded her a while back and ran out of cash or interest or something. My plan is to get her 403 Olds engine running, a little interior work, put in a windshield and then enjoy. Ain?t she sweet looking?

More to follow.

Lucky you! I still find it hard to believe someone would leave a great car like that outsidee without even covering it up especially since the windows are out! Good luck on gettin' that motor started & that bucket kills me!!!

I am seriously diggin' that. Would it be rude to ask how much you paid for it? Oh who cares, how much?:D

Thanks for all the great comments. I knew someone was going to ask how much -- I had to give up $9,000. The guy wouldn't budge. I was told he'd rather let it rust away than lower his price. What the hell -- it's only money, right? I was looking at the prices for the 30's Ford coupes and what they go for these days -- so I didn't feel too bad with parting with 9k.

The bucket kills me also. I'm out in Southern CA -- we don't get much rain -- but still! I'm glad the guy did at last that much. The interior isn't too bad considering no glass -- needs the leaves vacumed out!

The plan is to have her come home with me next weekend. And then I'm going to have some fun!

Anyone have any suggestions on what to name her?

I don't have any suggestions for her name....BUT I've got a few for the ***** and others like him that think their time and money spent never depreciates! I've ran up on more than a few of them up here the Central Valley. Those are the bozo's Christine (of killer car movie fame) needs to meet in the Ralphs parking lot late at night.

Personally I've dumped a couple of cars over the years after I lost my self-imposed "build window", just to make sure somebody would get some kickin' fun out of it. And now that I've found another "build window" (and some discresionary(?) funds) I'm skipping another drag car to go rat rodding.
Good Luck, drop the mask and build it 'til it hurts.

What a waste to find a perfect project in a backyard, and have someone decide to keep it, because they want to fix it up one day. That'd be great, except for the fact that the **** car is sitting in the same spot it has been for 15yrs......what gives??

share the wealth people!! let other people have the dream of building their dream car, that's what I say

:D
